I share my life with two Golden Retrievers, Louie and Gracie, who are everything I love about the breed – cheeky, full of character, and always keeping me on my toes! They’ve taught me so much, and they’re a huge part of the reason I do what I do.
I’ve been involved in dog training from a young age, starting out in Agility with my first Golden Retriever, Millie. From there, I quickly fell in love with the world of dog sports. Since then, I’ve trained in a wide variety of disciplines with my dogs including Hoopers, Competitive Obedience, Scent Detection, and Mantrailing. I love exploring what dogs are capable of, and proving that Goldens can do so much more than they’re often given credit for!
One of my proudest achievements has been qualifying Louie for Crufts in both 2024 and 2025, and winning our class both years. Competing in such a high-pressure, busy environment and seeing all our training come together was an experience I’ll never forget!
Training has become one of my favourite parts of owning dogs. It’s such a great way to build a stronger bond and spend dedicated time to them. I love giving my dogs something to focus on, watching their confidence grow, and seeing how much they enjoy learning. I always keep things positive, and for me, if we’ve both had fun and come away happy, then that’s a good session!
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Canine Therapy and I am a fully qualified Canine Hydrotherapist. This job has shaped the way I train, helping me understand how physical health, movement and emotional wellbeing all influence behaviour. I strongly believe that effective training means looking at the whole dog, not just the behaviour on the surface.
Golden Paws Dog Training brings together everything I’ve learned so far. My approach is kind, clear and is always being adapted to keep up to date with the current research with a focus on making training enjoyable, rewarding and effective for both dog and owner.
